The North Canton Middle School offers a variety of educational programming to all grade levels. Core courses include English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, all with opportunities for enriched and intervention levels to meet the diverse needs of our learners. Beyond the core, many additional courses are available in the areas of art, music, language, wellness, media and STEAM.
There are several ways for students to earn high school credit while still in middle school. One example of this is called a JumpStart course. JumpStart courses are high school courses offered to eighth grade students that replace one period of an exploratory class. JumpStart students are transported from NCMS to finish their day at Hoover High School and if they have bus privileges, JumpStart students board high school busses to go home. Students earn high school credit for these courses and grades are averaged into the high school grade point average (GPA). These courses include Journalism, Interactive Media, Art I, and Construction Technologies.
