WHAT IS TRANSITION U?

Transition U is a collaboration between North Canton City Schools and Walsh University!

This program is specifically designed for special education students between the ages of 18-21, who participated in “social graduation” from North Canton Hoover High School.

Transition U is a unique setting, allowing students with special needs to experience a college setting.

This post-secondary transition course for special education students will focus on life skills necessary for independent living, such as, employ-ability skills, finances, meal planning, obtaining and maintaining an apartment or housing, safety and health, self-care, recreation, transportation, and social skills.

In addition, the students will be provided an opportunity to experience on-site career possibilities in the community setting. Students will be able to build on their experiences from the Career Explorations class in order to become more independent in the workplace.
